"Hulk", "Knight" Trailer Updates

The long-awaited first (and likely only) trailer for "The Incredible Hulk" looks finally set to be released shortly. Superhero Hype reports that the preview will make its debut at Showest convention in Las Vegas next Thursday morning.

When will it actually hit cinemas? Hard to say. Universal has "Doomsday" coming out the following day which would seem a perfect fit, but there has been no official word on a debut date. Another possibility is their George Clooney comedy "Leatherheads" on April 4th.

Meanwhile the long rumoured about second trailer for "The Dark Knight" that was said to have been attached to tomorrow's "10,000 B.C." looks to have been pushed back.

Warners only has two other major releases before Knight's debut - May 9th's "Speed Racer" and June 20th's "Get Smart" leaving many to speculate that a second teaser may be scrapped altogether in favor of a full trailer on 'Speed', or be released unattached later this month.

Inside Spider-man's Return and The Batman's Finale

This week marks a changing of the superhero guard on Kids' WB, the CW's Saturday-morning cartoon block. Swinging into the picture is The Spectacular Spider-Man, which makes its debut with back-to-back episodes (airing March 8 at 10 and 10:30 am/ET).

That's followed at 11 am/ET by the hour-long series finale of The Batman. In his final adventure, Batman and Robin team up with Green Arrow to battle the Joining, an alien menace introduced in last year's season finale. This time around, the Joining steals the abilities of the superpowered Justice League members — Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman and Martian Manhunter — and transfers them into robotic androids.

Though The Batman is ending its five-season run, Batfans still have plenty to look forward to: In addition to this summer's live-action theatrical The Dark Knight, rumor has it that a new Batman TV 'toon modeled after the comic book The Brave and the Bold is in the pipeline. — Rich Sands

Chris Cooper On His ‘Batman Begins’ Near Miss

For all our endless talk in recent months about how well new stars Aaron Eckhart and, especially, Heath Ledger would fit in with the rest of the Gotham city crowd, one thing we’ve never revisited is what we make of the original cast — so beyond reproach, in our minds, are Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and the rest of the “Batman Begins” veterans.

But at least one of those now familiar faces was almost quite different, Oscar winner Chris Cooper revealed to MTV News, admitting that he was initially offered the role of Lt. James Gordon well before Gary Oldman took the reigns.

“I was approached about that and chose not to do it,” he matter of factly confessed.

According to the “Adaptation” star, declining the role had less to do with the character itself than it did the time he would be forced to spend away from his family on such a big-budget enterprise.

“If I’m going to choose a particular role and be away from home for months on end — whether it’s a long shoot or a short shoot, I’m going to put my energies into it — it’s something I want to be totally involved with,” he insisted. “I don’t like to work back to back — just work for work’s sake. I like to do one job, go home and recuperate and look for another piece of material once I’m ready.”

Even now that the movie has become a worldwide phenomenon, Cooper says that, looking back, he has no regrets.

“Not at all,” he insisted. “There’s any number of scripts that I passed on — some that got huge recognition — but I have no regrets.”

In our never ending game of “what if” casting, Cooper as Gordon is a doozy. What do you think he’d have made of the role? Sound off below.

MTV: Jack Nicholson Exclusive

Jack Nicholson who formerly played the role of Joker in Batman Classic, talks about how he hoped to have a "fun talk" with Heath Ledger.

Nicholson: That was horrible. I had an Ambien experience. I don't react well to sleeping pills. Someone said, "Try this, there's no hangover." And I got an emergency call in the middle of the night and had forgotten I'd taken one. I fell asleep at the wheel about a hundred yards from my house. A couple blocks in either direction and I'd have been in a really bad accident. When the news first came out and I heard [sleeping pills were involved] — I've tried to warn people.

MTV: Is there a lesson to be learned from what happened?

Nicholson: One of the things I'd know doctors would like is good feedback in their direction. If you do take a pill, have the presence of mind to check yourself out and see how it's actually acting so you can give feedback to the medical person.

MTV: How long ago was your incident?

Nicholson: That's got to be three or four years [ago]. I didn't know Mr. Ledger, but the town is very sad on his behalf.

MTV: You'd never met him?

Nicholson: No, I'd never met him. I would have tried to have a fun talk with him about the Joker.
